Character Generation

Phase 1

  1. Pick a name
  2. Choose a defining aspect; sum up your character in a short phrase.
  3. Choose a trouble aspect; what’s your weakness or bane or failing
  4. Make up a title of a ‘book’ that your character was the main protagonist in.
  5. Write up a summary, of at least a paragraph (no more than three), describing your first adventure.
  6. Send it to me (Please don’t send it to others yet. Trust me it can get confusing if you do. Everyone will see your story eventually, and at least two others will add into your story in further phases.)

If you have any questions on format feel free to use the prologue characters as reference. Also there is a ton of stuff out there on FATE aspects if you need help or inspiration. I upload a link to a free version of FATE on the wiki and the aspects section is worth a read; skills and ranks are way different though.

Phase 2

  1. Read the story and aspects of another player that you are given by the GM.
  2. Write up a summary, of at least a paragraph (no more than three), describing your characters presence in that adventure.
  3. Choose an aspect for yourself that pertained to your involvement.
  4. Choose an aspect for them that happened during your involvement.
Remember this is meant to be a collaboration, not a ‘Blue Falcon’ moment.
  5. Send it to the player and the GM.
  6. When you receive your story back review it and ask any questions you might have.

Phase 3

  1. Read the second story and aspects of the second player that you are given by the GM.
  2. Write up a summary, of at least a paragraph (no more than three), describing your characters presence in that adventure.
  3. Choose an aspect for yourself that pertained to your involvement.
  4. Choose an aspect for them that happened during your involvement.
  5. Send it to the player and the GM.
  6. When you receive your story back review it and ask any questions you might have.
